Missouri Indians once lived in the area of Van Meter State Park. The park features remnants of this early village site.

Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10AM the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home held their Groundbreaking Ceremony for the renovation of our existing facility and the addition of an Assisted Living Facility. It started a little rainy but the sunshine won out in the end! Speakers were: Board President – Roger Flandermeyer, Senator David Pearce, Representative Glen Kolkmeyer, Mayor Donald Holtcamp and Pastor Harold Block.
